This work will entail off road work on the staged removal and replacement of the bridge carrying Airport Rd. over the Union Pacific Railroad. Upcoming work will include the complete removal and replacement of the roadway between the bridge and IL 116, plus traffic signal upgrades at the intersection of Airport Rd. and IL 116. The intersection will be controlled by stop signs in all directions. Motorists should use caution when approaching and entering the intersection. Placement of the four-way stop is being done in preparation of future road construction at the intersection. A four-way stop will facilitate the flow of traffic during rush hour and allow for safer conditions during road construction.

*12/02 - The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announces that construction on Illinois Route 8 (Washington St.) in Sunnyland from east of Sunrise Ave. to west of Summit Dr. will move into the next stage on Thursday, December 3rd, weather permitting.  This stage will consist of reconstruction of the eastbound lanes and will move eastbound traffic to the third lane on the north side of IL 8. Westbound traffic will remain in one lane on the north side and a center turn lane will be in place. All traffic will remain in this new configuration on the new pavement (one lane in each direction and the center turn lane) until mid-summer 2010.
